Crater Lake

Commemorating 100 years of Crater Lake National Park, the Schneider Museum of Art and Crater Lake National Park created an artist-in residence program from October 2000 through October 2001.

Peter Goin's residency occured during August 2001, concluding with a portfolio of 16" x 20" color chromogenic development prints. This project was a brief but intense investigation of changing luminance, hue, and saturation of the fire skies surrounding Crater Lake. Photographing the last light, discovering the rising sun engulfed in a shroud of dense smoke along the horizon. This series interprets Crater Lake from ten different perspectives.
